Aquafest Parade
Explanation of the float from First Lutheran in Rice Lake ―
The tractor pulling the float reminds us that God’s Word (the Bible) is the sole source of what we know and believe about God. His Word leads and guides us in life. The sign on the side of the tractor states: Word Alone (is our only source of what God says); Grace Alone (makes us right with God; it’s not what we do); and Faith Alone (in Jesus Christ makes us right with God).
The first of the two floats represent the Reformation celebrating its 500th Anniversary. The church door is a replica of the church door in Wittenberg, Germany on which Martin Luther posted his 95 Thesis. Those thesis stated that on our own, we can’t make ourselves right with God.
The second of the two floats remind us that it’s what He does for us that makes us right with God. He sent us His Son who lived and died (on the cross) and rose again (the tomb is open; the stone has been rolled away) to make us right with God.
